We started off our day by attending the annual Sachse community parade with our grandchildren. The parade passes very near their house so it is an easy walk to the street to watch. I suppose that I am still a child at heart as I love the small town parade with kids!

Our grandchildren loved this parade and we did also! May God bless America!

Yesterday, at about 2:15pm, Pam was given the OK to stop wearing the orthopedic boot and to go back to shoes again! One must realize that the injury of that ankle took place on Jan. 5, and now nearly seven months later the ankle is nealy well. Actually, she does still have an ankle brace that she must wear when walking outside for another month and she still has at least two more weeks of three times per week physical therapy, but the end is actually in sight!

What a wonderful morning to go out for a walk!

       sunset

Not a great deal of new things to report, but this evening we had one of those very special sunsets. Just had to share it with our friends!

classicsIt is Friday at Lavon Lake and the weekend traffice is rolling in. It is always interesting to watch the new arrivals, but today is unique!

Temperature today is 103 degrees, a few light clouds around and 33% humidity.

        no crutch

Great news! As of today Pam is completely free of her crutches. One week from today is the next doctor's appointment but for this month it has been physical therapy in Dallas three times each week. Not only does it keep Pam busy, but me as well since she can't yet drive. That will be the next big bridge to cross.

Now to get shed of that  stylish boot she has been wearing.............

What a beautiful morning to fly! A good friend who owns a Cessna 172 was kind enough to fly over to meet me at the nearest small airport to our park and we went out to spend several hours, in Jim's words, "Just boring holes in the sky."  Click on the picitre of the plane for a better, enlarged look at a good looking Cessna 172.

Summer time brings some nice early morning flying weather and we met just before 8am to take to the skys and do a bit of just looking around, visiting and such. We flew from Rockwall Airport to Lancaster Airport for coffee and a short break, then returned.

All in all it was a great way to spend a morning and a good time visiting with an old friend and former coworker.

With the coming of all digital TV we, like so many other Americans, got our government issued card and purchased one of the digital converter boxes. The original plan was to replace the front TV with one that does HD, but like sometimes happens, it just didn't get done. But sometimes things don't go quite as planned. About a month ago we began to notice that the picture on our front TV always seemed to be rosy. In time it reached a point of no greens at all. We were fortunate in that the price of the new sets has been falling significantly and we managed to locate a new 22," HD TV with all of the frills, for $267 so it found a new home with us. Next up to remove the old one and redesign the mount for the new set. Surprisingly, this new set actually fits into the cabinet of the origional one with only minor modifications.

The empty hole didn't last long as we soon found a home for the TV! As pleased as we are by the result of this change, it does have one clear down side. You see Pam is so impressed by the new set's picture and sound quality that now she wants one just like if for our bedroom! Back to Sam's Club we go.

The weather had definitely changed and summer is here. It has not yet reached 100 degrees but it keeps getting really close. But for one driver, today was just a little hotter than usual. Imagine driving down the street when the very seat that you are on begins to burn! Not a very pleasant experience!

          truck

This happened in the street just next to the home of our son & family. The driver was from a hotrod shop that is about five blocks down the main street. I visited with him and it seems that he was doing a test drive of a customer owned 1936 Ford truck with a small block Chevy engine, preperatory to doing some work on it. He said that they were driving away from the shop  when it began to smell really hot inside of the cab with hints of smoke. He made a U-turn and attempted to get back to the shop, when the seat burst into flames! Both the driver and another mechanic jumped from the truck. The fire department arrived on scene just as I got to where I could see what was happening. The truck is salvageable but it won't be pretty for some time!
